Frequently Asked Questions
Which vaccinations do you require?

We require rabies, Bordetella and distemper/parvo vaccinations. We highly recommend influenza vaccine but do not require it due to shortages. Puppies must have completed all required rounds of vaccinations before grooming. We can accept a letter from your vet in lieu of rabies for puppies and senior dogs.
You will need to bring a written record from your vet. We cannot accept tags. You may show us on your phone instead of a hard copy.

How much does dog grooming cost?

Grooming cost depends on your dog’s breed, weight, condition of the coat, behavior, and desired services.

How often should I groom my dog?

We recommend staying on a schedule of 2-6 weeks depending on coat to keep your dog looking and feeling their best. Ask about pre-booking services! Services booked every 2-4 weeks receive a free upgrade to our spa treatment.

Do you groom cats?

Yes! We only groom cats who have been groomed before and are okay with being in the salon environment, which includes being around dogs. The grooming environment can be high stress, so schedule cats at quiet times of the day. Currently, we only do cat baths, not haircuts. For haircuts we recommend Aristocats 2 in The Colony.

What is included in the dog grooming?

Included are a bath with premium shampoo and conditioner, a haircut of your choice, a brush out, nail trim , and ear cleaning. You can add on our spa package which includes and nail file, teeth brushing, blueberry facial.

What additional charges may be added?

Additional possible charges include de-matting, de-shedding, special handling, scissoring and matted coat pre-shave.

How long will it take to groom my dog?

Grooming can take anywhere between 2-6 hours depending on desired services, type of dog, condition of the coat, the overall workload in the salon, day of the week, and the overall behavior of your dog or cat.

What is De-shedding?

De-shedding removes hair that is loose or just about to fall out. The deshed process includes special conditioner, brushing and blowing out the coat. This will not stop all shedding. However, with regular de-shedding your dog will shed significantly less. Some dogs may shed a bit more than usual for a day or two after the de-shed process because the special conditioner has loosened the coat. Some deshedding is included in the service. Additional deshedding is $1 per minute.

Why does it take so long to groom my dog?

Grooming takes 2-6 hours because we groom multiple dogs at any given time. This allows your dog a break between each step to relax and prevent a stress reaction. The grooming salon is meant to be a positive environment, as your dog will spend a lot of time here in their lifetime. Giving breaks helps us to keep this a positive place. Our focus is to provide a gentle grooming experience for your dog that will lead to your dog leaving our facility looking gorgeous!

Can I pay extra to have my dog done faster?

We do offer express appointments. With this service, we will groom your dog all the way through. This could take anywhere between 45 minutes and 2 hours.

Can I wait while my dog is being groomed?

More often than not, animals tend to do much better with grooming when they cannot see their owner. When they can, they often focus all their attention on getting to their owner, instead of on the groomer. This can lead to unsafe situations and a longer grooming time. We suggest you do not stay in the salon while your dog is being worked on, in order to minimize the potential risk associated with these unsafe situations. This is in the best interest of your pet and the groomer working on your pet.

When can my puppy have their first haircut?

We recommend you start grooming your pup as early as possible. This is usually between 8-12 weeks and helps your dog in getting used to the grooming process and environment. For puppies, we recommend their first experience in the salon to be a bath only. We do not push puppies to complete services so they do not feel stressed and we provide play breaks as needed. We want our puppies to have a positive experience here because they will spend a lot of time at the groomer over the years. A great first experience goes a long way towards a happy grooming future.

I have an aggressive dog, can you groom it?

We value the safety of your pet and our groomers above all else. Sometimes it is not in the best interest of the pet or the groomer to groom an aggressive dog. This can put the groomer at risk of being bitten and the dog at risk of accidental injury by grooming equipment.

Can I bring my own shampoo?

Definitely! Just give this to the groomer at check-in.

Can I drop my dog off before work and pick up after work?

Definitely! We offer doggie daycare at Lakeside Pet Spa! You can add on daycare to any groom! The first hour after you receive the text is free. The second hour is $10. Add the rest of the day until close for only $5 more. Not all dogs are good candidates for daycare.

Does my dog get water while in your care?

Yes, we make sure the dogs have access to water while in our care.
